Exploding Eggs and Magic Mushrooms

So, I left Facebook yesterday. Both my personal page and my business page for the farm. I’d be lying if I said it was easy. But, Facebook is apparently now considering people who are “too prepared” as extremists, and as a person who believes strongly in being prepared, that was the final straw for me.

So here I am back on the blog I’ve been neglecting forever. I haven’t exactly decided how I’m going to do this yet. I just know that today I’ve taken pictures of stuff I would’ve shared with everyone on the farm page, and wanted to share it somewhere. So not really a cohesive blog post, more like a “here was my day” dump 💁🏻‍♀️

First thing that happened involved me sitting eating lunch and hearing what sounded like the noise a pop bottle makes when it pops back into position. It made the dogs jump, but I didn’t really think anything of it and went on eating. A little later I thought Apollo had bad gas. It wasn’t dog gas as you can tell from my texts with the hubby.

Then I got to open all the windows and doors, carry the tray of eggs outside, and start the process of cleaning the incubator out. I just needed it clean enough to not stink up the house, cuz I’m taking it apart later this week to clean it well to store until next hatching season. For the record, those little metal shelves the trays rest on are NOT easy to clean. They’re so full of chick fluff that I have no idea how I’ll get them sanitized correctly.

While waiting on the house to air out some, hubby texted and asked me to go get the new trail cams we set up. They weren’t working correctly and he wanted them brought up so he could trouble shoot. While down there I realized the magic mushrooms had sprouted recently. I’m not positive on my ID of these but I’m pretty sure they’re fly agaric, which is the stereotypical toadstool mushroom you see in fairytale pictures. The first ones I found were looking really old. Then, I found a somewhat fresher one, so I looked around trying to find ones that were just popping up.

But the last one I found…oh my gosh it was so stinkin cute! It doesn’t even look real. It was a tiny lil baby mushroom the size of my thumbnail! Hubby said I should “Eat it! See stuff! Write a book!” Needless to say, I won’t be doing that. 😂

Well, that’s all the pictures I took today. I don’t know if this is how I’ll do things from now on. I just knew I still wanted to be able to share the random stuff in my days somehow with those who are interested. If you leave me a comment, please be patient with me as I try to figure out the app. This stuff is technically easier from a computer, but I have my phone on me at all times, so I want to learn to be able to do it from my phone. Fingers crossed it doesn’t take me long!
